Bennett Andersen graduated with a 3.98 GPA in industrial and systems engineering.

Florida graduate guard Bennett Andersen was honored on Friday as the recipient of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Elite 90 award, presented following the team’s open practice at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Andersen, who completed his undergraduate degree in 2024 with a 3.98 GPA in Industrial and Systems Engineering, is now pursuing a Master of Science in Management. Before joining the roster as a walk-on in 2023, where he scored his first career point in his debut, he contributed to the program for three years as a team manager.

The Tampa, Fla., native has delivered a pair of highlight moments during the 2025 postseason. In the SEC Tournament semifinal against Alabama, his driving layup secured Florida the tournament’s all-time scoring record in a 104-82 victory. He later added another basket in the Sweet 16 matchup with Maryland, converting on an offensive rebound.

Andersen becomes the fourth Gator student-athlete across all sports to claim the Elite 90 distinction, joining Alex McMurtry (gymnastics) and Josie Kuhlman (women’s tennis) in 2017, along with Emily Lortz (lacrosse) in 2024.

This season, Andersen was also recognized as part of the 2025 Southeastern Conference Men's Basketball Community Service Team. Beyond the court, he co-founded and serves on the executive committee of the Gainesville chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit dedicated to building and delivering beds for children and families in need.

The Elite 90 award highlights student-athletes who combine athletic excellence with top-tier academic achievement. It is presented to the competitor with the highest cumulative GPA at the championship finals site for each of the NCAA’s 90 national events.

To qualify, student-athletes must be at least sophomores academically and have competed for their school for a minimum of two years. In the event of a tie, the total number of credits completed determines the winner.
