Senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. of Florida men's basketball has been named to the John R. Wooden Award All-America Team and received Top 5 honors, as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Hailing from Lake Wales, Florida, Clayton has delivered one of the most impressive individual campaigns in program history, helping guide the Gators to their sixth Final Four appearance.
During NCAA Tournament play, Clayton has posted an average of 22.3 points per game and was named NCAA Tournament West Region Most Outstanding Player. His clutch performance included scoring eight points in the final three minutes against Texas Tech, fueling Florida’s decisive 18-4 run to secure a Final Four spot.
The Gators are set to face Auburn on Saturday at 6:09 p.m. EDT in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
