GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida men’s basketball center Olivier Rioux has been named to Canada’s roster for the FIBA U19 World Cup, which tips off Saturday in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Montreal native continues his streak of international appearances, marking his fifth consecutive summer representing Team Canada.


Rioux, who redshirted during the 2024–25 season, was part of Florida’s national championship squad and is set to return for his redshirt freshman year in 2025–26. His international résumé includes consistent FIBA competition since 2021: the 2024 U18 Americas (bronze), 2023 U19 World Cup (seventh place), 2022 U17 World Cup (ninth place), and 2021 U16 Americas (bronze).


The tournament spans eight days and features 16 national teams. Each squad will play three group-stage games before advancing to the knockout rounds based on seeding.
