Dakic is set to train with Basketball Australia this spring and has high hopes on securing a spot on the U19 FIBA World Cup roster.

GAINESVILLE, Fla.— Emilija Dakic, a future Gator, has earned the opportunity to represent Australia at the international level. She’s been selected for Basketball Australia’s 24-player training roster and will participate in a high-level camp at the Australian Institute of Sport, aiming to secure a place on the U19 World Cup squad.

The roster was announced Tuesday evening, with Renae Garlep named as head coach for the Australian U19 team. The training camp is scheduled to run from March 31 through early April.

Dakic officially signed with Florida in November 2024. She’s recognized for her scoring versatility and defensive range, capable of guarding across all positions. Her accolades include a gold medal from the U18 FIBA Asia Cup 2024, two Casey Cavalier Junior of the Year honors (2018 and 2022), the Lions Club Citizenship Award, the John Milledge Leadership Award Scholarship, and the Academic Excellence Award.
