Walter Clayton Jr. and Todd Golden have helped the Gators to a 27-4 regular season record.

Florida head coach Todd Golden and senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. have been selected as semifinalists for the Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year and Player of the Year honors, respectively, according to Friday’s announcement from the Naismith Awards. Both categories have now been narrowed to 10 candidates each.

The fourth-ranked Gators enter SEC Tournament play following a 27-4 regular season that featured five victories over top-25 opponents, including two against the nation’s No. 1 team.

Florida is one of only three programs nationally ranked in the top 10 for both offensive and defensive efficiency. The team also climbed to No. 2 in the national polls earlier this season, its highest position since 2014.

Clayton has been the team’s leader in scoring, assists, and 3-point field goals this year. His two-season scoring total already ranks third in program history.

Golden and Clayton form one of just five coach-player duos to be recognized as semifinalists in the same year.
