GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Sophomore point guard Liv McGill has been recognized by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) as one of its Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week. The SEC also named her SEC Player of the Week, presented by Allstate, after guiding Florida to a 3-0 start in the 2025-26 season and setting multiple program and personal career records.
McGill currently sits fourth among NCAA Division I scorers with an average of 27.7 points per game. She is tied for 20th nationally in assists (7.3 per game) and tied for 10th in steals (5.0 per game). Within the SEC, she leads in scoring, ranks tied for fourth in assists, second in steals, and tied for second in made three-pointers per contest.
The preseason second-team all-conference selection has already posted career-best single-game marks this season: 38 points, six three-pointers, and 13 field goals, while matching her career-high of seven steals—all in the Nov. 6 matchup against Chattanooga. Her 38 points set a new record for the most scored in a home game in Florida women’s basketball history.
Across the first two games of the season, McGill totaled 64 points, 17 rebounds, 19 assists, and 12 steals. According to OptaStats, "the only other NBA, WNBA or Division I men's or women's player this century to have 60/15/15/10 in those categories over a two-game span was Dwayne Wade from Feb. 28-March 2, 2009."
In more than a century of combined Florida men’s and women’s basketball history, no player had ever recorded 38 points with 10 assists, or 38 points with seven steals, until McGill achieved both in the same game against Chattanooga.
She also became just the sixth NCAA Division I women’s player since 1999-2000 to record at least 38 points and 10 assists in a single contest. Within SEC history, only three players since 1999-2000 have produced multiple games with at least 25 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals. McGill joined that exclusive group by hitting those marks in each of the season’s first two games.
Her performance against Chattanooga on Nov. 6, 2025, also made her the only NCAA Division I women’s player since 1999-2000 to record a stat line of 38 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists, and seven steals.
McGill nearly reached triple-doubles in both of Florida’s opening games—falling one rebound and one assist short in the season opener (26 points, nine rebounds, nine assists) and two rebounds shy in the second game (36 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists).
Florida will look to continue its unbeaten run when it hosts Samford on Thursday, Nov. 13 at Exactech Arena inside the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
