Florida has five newcomers slated for 2025-26 with the addition of Boogie Fland and AJ Brown
Florida men’s basketball head coach Todd Golden shared his thoughts Thursday on incoming transfer guards AJ Brown and Boogie Fland.
Brown, a 6-foot-4 guard from Orlando, joined the Gators in late April and arrives as a redshirt junior for the 2025–26 season after three years at Ohio. During the 2024–25 campaign, he averaged 13.2 points per game and connected on 38.8% of his shots from beyond the arc. Brown has totaled 731 career points and recorded six games with 20 or more, including a standout 28-point performance in the 2023 MAC Tournament against Ball State.
"AJ is a guy that's flown under the radar a little bit as far as bringing him in," Golden said. "He's just a really efficient scorer, a guy that can finish from two, really shot the ball well from three last year – a guy, as we're putting these pieces together, will provide punch for us and a guy that can make shots. I think that's something that we needed with the frontcourt that we play and adding some other new guys to the perimeter, but just an efficient, effective scorer, a guy that's done it for a couple years and a guy that really wanted to be here. As you guys know, that's really important to me."

AJ Brown averaged 13.2 points at Ohio last season.
AJ Brown, the older brother of Florida guard Isaiah Brown, joins the Gators with a strong résumé on and off the court. Last season, he shot .471 from the field, .388 from beyond the arc, and .820 at the free throw line, earning Academic All-MAC recognition. As a freshman in 2022–23, Brown averaged 10.3 points and was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team. He received a medical redshirt for the 2023–24 season after appearing in just nine games due to injury. During his high school career at Orlando Christian Prep, Brown captured two FHSAA 2A state titles.
Boogie Fland, a Bronx native, arrives at Florida after a standout freshman year at Arkansas, where he averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.2 rebounds. He started 18 of 21 games and delivered four 20-point performances, including a season-best 24 points with five made threes in a win over Oakland. Fland also posted a 3.45 assist-to-turnover ratio and recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists against North Carolina A&T.

Boogie Fland averaged 13.5 points as a freshman at Arkansas and earned an NBA Combine Invitation.
"He's definitely a great NBA prospect and a guy that I anticipate not being on this campus for a long time," Golden said. "If he has a good year next year, I would anticipate him moving on, which is awesome. And my hope is that we can help him get to that goal of his. With him and Xaivian [Lee] and the guys that we're bringing back, I'm just excited for this group to get here on June 9 and see what we can start putting together."
Boogie Fland, a 2024 McDonald's All-American, adds elite pedigree to Florida’s backcourt. He was also selected for the Jordan Brand Classic, the USA Basketball Nike Hoop Summit, and the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Select Team. Named "Mr. New York Basketball" by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Fland becomes the first Gator from New York City since Brooklyn’s Erving Walker (2008–11). He attended Archbishop Stepinac High School.
Fland and AJ Brown join Florida’s 2025 incoming class alongside transfer guard Xaivian Lee and freshmen Alex Lloyd and CJ Ingram.
