Walter Clayton Jr. had 19 points and nine assists in the Gators' win at No. 1 Auburn.

Florida senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. has been selected to the John R. Wooden Award Men’s Late Midseason Top 20 Watch List, as announced Tuesday by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.


Clayton leads the No. 3-ranked Gators with 17.5 points per game, 60 made three-pointers, and 88 assists. His most recent highlight came in Saturday’s upset of No. 1 Auburn, where he posted 19 points and nine assists to help secure Florida’s second victory of the season over a top-ranked opponent.


The Lake Wales native has recorded six games of 25 or more points this year and seven outings with at least four made threes. Entering midweek play, Clayton ranks among the SEC’s top 10 in several categories: scoring (8th, 17.5), field goal percentage (9th, .454), assists (8th, 4.0), free throw percentage (5th, .870), three-pointers made (4th, 2.7), three-point percentage (6th, .366), and minutes played (10th, 31.8).


Florida continues its schedule Tuesday at 7 p.m. with a road matchup against No. 22 Mississippi State.
