
Boca Raton, Fla. — The Florida women’s basketball squad heads back on the road next week, beginning with a matchup in Boca Raton against Florida Atlantic on Monday, Nov. 24. After that, the team will continue its Thanksgiving week journey with two games in the Cayman Islands.
Florida has been flawless at home this season with a 5-0 record, but fell 69-54 in its first away contest against Navy. Preseason All-SEC pick Liv McGill missed that game, though she returned against Florida State and delivered 27 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and seven steals.
Across NCAA Division I women’s basketball this year, only five performances have featured at least 25 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals. McGill owns three of those outings.
Sophomore forward Me'Arah O'Neal has already recorded four double-doubles, ranking second nationally, while junior Laila Reynolds has averaged 17.3 points per game over her last four appearances.
Florida Atlantic enters at 2-2 following a 70-63 defeat to South Alabama on Thursday, Nov. 20. The Owls have rotated eight different starters through four games. Their top contributors include junior guard Grace Carstensen (12.3 ppg, .552 FG%, .571 3FG%) and junior forward Vivian Onugha (12.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg, .640 FG%).
The Gators hold an 8-1 all-time advantage over Florida Atlantic, winning the last six meetings. Their most recent clash came on Nov. 4, 2024, when Jeriah Warren scored 21 points to lead four Gators in double figures during an 82-54 victory. Florida forced 15 turnovers, converting them into 23 points, while the Owls managed just two points off eight Gator miscues. The teams have not met on Florida Atlantic’s home floor since the 1994-95 season.
