Florida men’s basketball standout and sophomore forward/center Alex Condon has earned his third Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award of the season, as announced by the SEC on Monday.
Condon is now only the second player in Gators history to receive the honor three times in a single season, joining Jalen Hudson’s 2017–18 accomplishment. His week opened with a career-best 27 points, along with 10 rebounds and two blocks, helping Florida secure a road victory at Alabama. That performance made him the first SEC player in the 2000s—and just the fifth player nationwide—to reach those numbers in a top-10 road matchup.
Hailing from Perth, Australia, Condon continued his strong play against Ole Miss, posting 17 points and 15 rebounds in just 23 minutes. He became only the third SEC athlete this century to record at least 15 points and 15 boards in 25 minutes or fewer during a conference game (Johni Broome in 2023 vs. Georgia; Glen Davis in 2006 at Florida). Condon pulled down seven rebounds within the opening five minutes and came close to a halftime double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds at the break.
Condon’s presence on the glass powered Florida to commanding rebounding advantages in both contests—+15 at Alabama and +12 against Ole Miss. The Gators also controlled the paint versus Ole Miss, connecting on .680 of their two-point attempts while holding the Rebels to .333 inside.
This latest award adds to Condon’s earlier weekly honors earned after posting double-doubles in both of Florida’s victories over No. 1-ranked opponents this season.
Florida’s next game is set for Friday at 7 p.m. EDT, where the Gators—entering the SEC Tournament in Nashville as the No. 2 seed—will face LSU, Mississippi State, or Missouri in the quarterfinals.
